Climate Change

Climate change is occurring in Alaska at twice the global rate. The Native Village of Georgetown Staff and the Environmental Committee are working towards building a resilient community and ensuring that we are better prepared for the future changes in our environment occurring due to climate change.

Georgetown Tribal Council worked with the GEOS Institute in 2017 to complete a Climate Science Primer and Vulnerability Assessment for the Native Village of Georgetown and surrounding communities.

Our most recent project was to develop a Middle Kuskokwim Adaptation Plan with the help of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC).
